It is very easy to make pretty patterns on a card when you use masks or stencils.
We had lots of fun on Thursday making this card and two more while using masks and ink. To make a card with pretty patterns, you can use masks, stencils or even die-cuts (think lacy ones).
For this card, I used the Basic Pattern Decorative Masks from Stampin’ Up! They were introduced in the Holiday catalogue and are continuing. They are not visible in any catalogue at the moment but they are available for purchase.
They are a really good deal because the possibilities are endless with them. You will use them over and over again, trying many different techniques.
We are spending four months of technique classes to play with them as well as embossing paste.
I used Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay and Gorgeous Grape on Sahara Sand cardstock. I found that using the sponge daubers gave me good coverage as well as precision.
On another card, we use the trees mask. The brayer gave us best coverage. So the techniques will depend on the design of the mask as well as the desired effect.
