Lighthouse Card

This Lighthouse Card is very different than my usual cards and I’ll explain why. It expresses my heart and this is not something I usually do through my cards.

This last Sunday, our son and his family came over for a time of worship together. We sang some songs with piano accompaniment but then the kids wanted to sing songs from their VBS times. There was one in particular they wanted: “My Lighthouse

The lyrics really spoke to me! My daughter in law had brought some playdough and was encouraging us to fashion a response to our time together. The design of this card popped into my head and I had to make it.

Here are the words that created that card:

My God’s love will lead me through
You are the peace in my troubled sea
My lighthouse
Shining in the darkness I will follow You
I will trust the promise You will carry me safe to shore

We are travelling through troubled sea! The lighthouse is crucial in leading us through this time.

In my teen years I did a fair bit of sailing. Being on a sail boat in the middle of the sea at night, we HAD to trust the lighthouses! We had to identifying three of them around us and triangulate them on a map to know where we were and make sure there were no obstacles in front of us.

So the whole lighthouse picture is very powerful to me! It represents safety and peace. I can sleep well at night, even going through the troubled sea because the lighthouse will keep me safe (whatever safety looks like, whatever shore I end up on). This lighthouse card is very powerful to me.
