I want to give you tips on how to use cling stamps, the new Stampin’ Up! red rubber stamps. I love red rubber stamps for many reasons and now the labels cling very well to the acrylic blocs – yay!!
What are cling stamps?
Cling stamps are red rubber stamps with a nice and sticky label that clings well to the acrylic bloc whether you are stamping or cleaning them.
The label has a permanent adhesive on one side – that will attach to the foam part of the stamp. The other side is a temporary/repositionable adhesive that will cling to the acrylic bloc.
Your new stamp set
When you first get your stamp set, place the labels on the stamps. There are graphic instructions inside the case if you forget. It is also shown in the video below. Identify the permanent adhesive side of the label sheet – that’s the side where there is a slit in the middle of the image. Remove both parts of the backing.
Then take the corresponding stamp and remove its backing. Now you want to place the stamp very carefully over the label and gently press. Very carefully because once it is stuck on the stamp, it stays! There is no removing or it will damage the foam. Finally, remove the stamp and label from the label sheet and place it in the case.
Most importantly, the label has temporary adhesive on it that you want to protect.
- Keep the stamp on a bloc or in the case. If you leave to the air, it will attract dust, cat hair, dog hair and who knows what else is floating around. Then it will loose its clingliness.
- If it needs to be cleaned, use ONLY water or Stampin’ Mist. NO alcohol (it will dissolve the adhesive), NO Stazon Cleaner (it will damage the adhesive), NO wipes (it will leave fibers).
How to use the cling stamps
You will use them the same way you use any red rubber stamps. First, make sure the label is clean and dry. Then, put them on an acrylic bloc. Ink them up and stamp the beautiful image on your cardstock. Now you can both read the greeting you are stamping AND have it nicely stay on the bloc. Love it!
Clean your stamp with water and the Simply Shammy (my preferred way) or the Stampin’ Scrub and Stampin’ Mist (very effective).
If you have used Stazon Ink, clean the stamp with the Stazon Cleaner but be very careful that it doesn’t get on the label. Immediately afterwards wash the stamp with water to remove any residue, dry and put back in the case. If Stazon cleaner came into contact with the label, then clean using Stampin’ Mist.
In conclusion, to remove the stamp from the bloc, peel it from the edge grabbing the label as well. You want the label, the foam and the rubber to all stay together! Watch how she does it in the video.
I am sure you will love the cling stamps as much as I do. You can view the whole collection here.
